Calltakers are at the nerve centre of our business.     Formally called a dispatcher, the calltaker, amongst many other important tasks, takes information by telephone from a client who wishes to book a taxi trip and enters it into the Sunshine Cabs fully computerized digital dispatch system.     Training is provided by Sunshine Cabs Ltd. personnel and computer skills would be an advantage.

Taxi drivers are the front line of our business.     The drivers appearance, attitude and safe driving skills directly represents the company's image and affects the company's reputation.
All taxi drivers within the lower mainland of British Columbia shall:

• Hold a valid British Columbia Class 4 driver licence or better;
• Successfully complete the Taxihost Level 1 Certification Program offered by  The Justice Institute of British Columbia.     Contact our  General Manager  for more details including financial assistance.
• Have a clean criminal record annually verified by The Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
• Have fewer than 5 demerit points levied against their driving record.
• Successfully complete the  Commercial Drivers Medical Examination  as required by the British Columbia Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.
• Agree to comply with Company rules and regulations.

At Sunshine Cabs Ltd. each day is divided into two, twelve-hour shifts namely:

• Day Shift   - 4:00AM to 4:00PM
• Night Shift - 4:00PM to 4:00AM

Most Sunshine Cabs Ltd. vehicles are available for lease by qualified drivers, at the established lease rate.     There are several vehicle lease options available, from which the driver may choose:

1. Day Lease or Night Lease - The vehicle is leased on a per-shift basis and the driver can choose which shifts he/she wishes to drive.
2. Long Lease - The vehicle is leased for a six or seven-day period.     The driver has sole possession of the vehicle for the long lease period and can drive any time he/she chooses to a maximum of fifteen hours within any twenty-four hour time period.
3. Weekend Lease - Occasionally, there may be vehicles available for lease from Friday 4:00PM to Sunday 4:00PM.

Drivers pay for the fuel that they use and must return the vehicle at the completion of the lease period with a full fuel tank.     All commercial vehicle drivers are required by law to conduct daily vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
